Mining & aggregates — autonomous surface drilling

Overview

Fully autonomous surface drill rig: executes complete drill patterns with no operator in the cab, compliant with the Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) Level 4 autonomy standard, supervised remotely via Epiroc's Common Automation Panel and Link Open Autonomy platform. In September 2025, partner Luck Stone (Rockville, VA) put the first fully autonomous SmartROC D65 to work in the US aggregate market — also the first worldwide in the quarry market. The D65 platform drills 16 m production holes with 8 m pipes and up to 229 mm (9 in) holes via the COP M7 hammer. One of 2 entries from Epiroc in this index — compare the sibling models before shortlisting. Designed around mining & aggregates — autonomous surface drilling.
