Overview

ORBIT Robotics' ETH Zurich Focus Project, unveiled May 21, 2026, asks what a humanoid
needs in orbit — and answers: arms, not legs. HELIOS is a four-armed, legless space
humanoid with tendon-driven arms designed for work in microgravity testbeds (IKARUS).
It trades locomotion for multi-arm manipulation, a genuinely different answer to
humanoid design where "walking" is meaningless. A concept-to-reality study rather than
a product; notable for the design reasoning, not the spec sheet.
